Dr. Luan is a Board-Certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon with an interest in advanced techniques in surgical periodontics and implant therapy. Originally from London, UK, Dr. Luan received his dental degree from King’s College London, England, and was awarded the Frank Ashley Prize from the British Society of Periodontology. Following graduation, he was selected as a Thoron Scholar to attend the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his specialist training in Periodontics and Dental Implantology and received his Masters degree in Oral Biology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Nevins Fellow of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.
Dr. Luan began his career as an award-winning faculty member at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago where he was Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics. He is a Health Professions Education Fellow at Johns Hopkins University where he received his Masters of Education in Health Professions Education Leadership. Passionate about dental education, he serves as a national dental board licensure examiner for the Commission of Dental Competency Assessments and a program site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation. He is actively involved with American Dental Education Association as Emerging Academic Leaders Scholar, the American Dental Association’s Institute for Diversity in Leadership, and the Academy of Osseointegration’s Young Clinician Committee.
When not practicing, Dr. Luan enjoys playing tennis, skiing, swimming and spending time with family and friends.
